My name is Betty and I’m the Manager here at Westfields.
I have worked at Westfields since 2008 and have an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education. Childcare is my passion. I love working with children and the biggest reward for me is watching how proud they are when they figure out something new! It’s lovely seeing how happy parents are too when they watch their child absorbed in their play. I feel extremely privileged to be part of giving children the best possible start in life.
I have always been very proud to be a part of a wonderful and caring team, and have always had a passion for working with children and being an important part of childrens' development during their early years.
As a parent myself I know how important it is to find the right childcare. Westfields is somewhere your child can feel safe, nurtured and loved in an environment that allows children to grow, develop, explore and have fun. We ensure that we give you the peace of mind and confidence to leave your child in our care.
I have always wanted to work in a nursery which has a “home from home” feel, where children can feel safe, loved and nurtured - as this is the best environment for them to develop. This is exactly what I feel my team and I have here at Westfields.
We occupy a beautiful, detached, Victorian nursery in Cheltenham, with our own outdoor play space.
It’s hard to find a day nursery in Cheltenham with wonderful and extensive facilities for both indoor and outdoor play. Situated on our own 1/3 acre of grounds, our Cheltenham nursery has both, and we’ve included lots of information about our facilities on our Our Nursery page, and lots of photos of our children at play throughout our website. Thank you to our parents for granting their permission for us to share these photos.
Our philosophy and practice
We explain our philosophy and approach to childcare in detail on our Caring For Your Child page. I think that this is particularly important, as not every Cheltenham nursery operates in the same way. We explain our ‘Key Person Approach’ and how this enables us to know both you and your child really well – and better meet your child’s needs. We also explain how our nursery and outdoor environments contribute to your child’s development with us.
Here at Westfields we have a great partnership with parents – working closely and ensuring that we are meeting their individual requirements. I believe in creating a warm, caring and friendly environment, where children and their families feel cared for, valued and loved - and where they can genuinely feel at home. As children’s primary educators, the relationships we build with parents are as important as the relationships we build with our children. These relationships create a ‘home from home’ atmosphere and help children to feel safe and secure, leaving them free to immerse themselves in play.
We’ve included as much useful information as possible here on our website. You’ll find much of it on our Parent Information page. I believe we’re the only Cheltenham nursery to open from 8.00am – 6.00pm, Monday – Friday for 51 weeks of the year (we close during Christmas week), and offer a variety of sessions to meet most family’s individual needs - at competitive and inclusive prices. We also offer FREE childcare places for ALL 3 and 4 year old children (and many 2 year olds), and include nutritious ‘home cooked’ lunches and teas – the details of which are all explained on our Parent Information page.
The best day nursery in Cheltenham
Of course it’s natural to be proud of your nursery when you work with a team who strive to provide wonderful care to children every day - and I’m no exception. I truly believe that Westfields is the best nursery in Cheltenham. I hope that our parent testimonials bear this out - and you may also enjoy reading our latest OFSTED Report.
Finally, while we regard Westfields as a Cheltenham nursery, we have parents who use us from as far afield as Gloucester, Tewkesbury, and Stroud - as well as from the local area of Leckhampton. You’ll find a map showing our location on our Contact Us page - as well as our contact details. If we look as though we could provide a childcare solution for you, then we’d love to see you at the nursery and show you around - so please give us a call on 01242 245307 or pop in to see us, and meet our team.
